A RIGHT ROYAL TIME

Easter Fun Day

This year saw the 6th year that KJ has provided the face painting for the Horsefair Shopping Centre Fun Days. Kevin, the Centre Manager, commented on just how much her kit has grown since those early bookings for him! She used to take up a small space in the Information Booth, as you will see from the photo, she’d never fit it all in there now! The one difference this year was that I was also invited along to create some balloon models for the passing crowds. The sun was beating down all day, thank goodness for the gazebo this year, and along with all the other attractions available on the day, we look our place entertaining for a few hours on a balmy Wednesday afternoon. The only trouble is that at 2pm when it was finishing time, people were still begging for more! We are happy to announce that we will back for the Summer Fun Day which has been provisionally booked for 31 August.

Shine A Light

Alongside the normal mayhem and madness of our Krazy Kidz Parties, of which there were many during April, we had our first complete UV party and the only word I can use to describe it is WOW! The party was for a young lady celebrating her 13th birthday, we provided the disco and all the UV lighting but as an added extra, they also had KJ providing UV face and body painting. The guests (and the adults) all dressed in neon colours and the room looked like we were at an 80s roller disco or in the middle of the Fame set (not that I remember the 80s much of course because I am far too young).

The painting turned out better than either of us could have ever imagined. KJ had had some neon paints in her kits for a while but never really used them very much but after being given some ideas from her good friend Lizzy B, her imagination was running wild! She painted, faces, arms, shoulders, backs and legs and once they were on the dancefloor and the UV lighting was in full force, the wash of colour was amazing and we are both looking for to the next one booked on 3 June very much!

New Clients & A Certain Wedding Day

Some new and exciting bookings have come our way this month due to both St Georges Day and also I think there was a wedding somewhere...some bloke from Wales or something ;)

On St Georges Day this year KJ went to Downham Market to surprise the shoppers with her Fancy Faces at Tots to Teens, a lovely shop in the Town Centre. Red and white were the colours of the day but of course that didn’t mean that all they had to have painted were crosses!

Wedding, what wedding? Unfortunately we had already taken a booking for the 29th so were unable to help out Kate & William but we were able to celebrate the Royal Wedding alongside others at The Cherry Tree in Peterborough. With face painting by KJ, balloon modelling from me, 3 live bands and much more besides, it was a fantastic afternoon in the glorious sunshine. Princesses were certainly the order of the day for KJ and I even got to make a crown for one ‘King’.

Bank Holidays

Bank holiday weekeds are always a busy time for us but one thing we do enjoy are the regular Sunday night discos at Mildenhall Social Club. They are always well attended with most people not having to get up for work the next day with the Monday being a bank holiday and they certainly do bop until they drop! The next one will be the August bank holiday weekend so if you get a chance to be there, you won’t be disappointed!

Long Sutton Butterfly & Wildlife Park

If you look closely you can see me in there somewhere!
Once again we have been back at the Park recently creating fancy faces and balloon models. There was the fabulous Jungle Book production by the SS Theatre Company. If you didn’t get the chance to see them over Easter, make a date to pop back in August for their production of Romeo & Juliet…they are well worth watching. And then the May Day holiday saw the return of the beautiful Siberian Huskies. The Park is definitely somewhere to go for a great day out..and don’t forget, if we are around, make sure you come and say hi. You can find more information about what’s on and when on the Park website.

And finally…

We were back at The Case for regular Thursday night karaoke with a few familiar faces from another booking popping in as well – always good to see!

Unfortunately this post is tinged with a note of sadness. One of our favourite places to entertain is The Ship Inn at Brandon Creek. The pub is one of the nicest places around and our karaoke nights have become a regular fixture over the last couple of years. Malcolm & Michelle welcomed us with open arms into their pub and became good friends as well as clients. Sadly, and very unexpectedly, Malcolm passed away at the beginning of May and our thoughts are firmly with Michelle, the family, staff and all his friends. Malcolm certainly was right at the heart of everything at the pub and he will be very much missed.

We certainly hope that wherever you are Malcolm you are singing the song you liked to sing regularly at the top of your voice and bringing as much laughter to them as you did to us.

So, it’s not all been good these last few weeks but as busy entertainers we have to keep going. So, until the next time…
